Lucy and her pig
Lucy was given this pig - a character from the Boyton books - for her birthday. She is really cuddling with animals and dolls, holding them, she'll even sway with them in her arms. It's so cute!

Happy Valentine's Day and a real winter snow storm
About 10 minutes before Lucy's naptime (the day after the storm), Anna Kate asked to go outside and play. We bundled everyone up, but we didn't stay outside very long . . . I got a quick shot of Anna Kate standing at the bottom of the front porch stairs! Can you believe the size of that drift?
Here's a look around the backyard. And on the bottom left, our neighbor's driveway. I don't know if you can see it, but she has a huge wall of snow (she uses a snow plowing service for her driveway. It's effective but not very pretty.)
Here's Lucy yesterday - while Daddy was shoveling. Once again, yesterday, we only lasted a few minutes outside. It was frigid cold yesterday with wind chills dropping below zero.
Here's Anna Kate yesterday - she can't even walk in it because it's so deep and she is not used to all her gear!
Daddy had to help her up.
Today we sat down for fun . . .

Lucy is growing! We had her one-year well baby check-up this week, and she is 29 inches long and 18 lbs 9 oz! Whew! What a big girl! :) For everyone who is wondering (as I do) how this compares with big sister Anna Kate . . . Lucy is about the same length but weighs almost a full pound more! Every ounce counts at this size!

Happy 1st Birthday, Lucy!
Lucy enjoying her birthday and sitting on Weebleville. What a great sweater and shirt from Grandma and Grandpa Sheehan! We love the color!
Lucy was not sure about the cupcake, even though she had been trying to grab one most of the afternoon . . .
After I broke it in half and then broke a couple of bite-sized pieces, she tried it. She wasn't enthusiastic about the frosting at all - too sticky!
Here's Anna Kate wearing her new pink cowboy boots and my favorite sweater from when I was her age. My mom brought some things from home, which are mine. My Gram made this sweater for me and my parents had to put it away when I outgrew it because I didn't want to stop wearing it.
Here's a better look at those cowboy boots!

Here is the first go at presents in the morning. We didn't really make it into the presents but got sidelined with some books. Oops!
A few minutes later, Anna Kate showed Lucy how to open presents. Just like at Christmas, though, it was a box that was the biggest hit of all. (The actual contents of the presents are thorougly being enjoyed now!) Lucy climbed in and out of this box for a long time. The box is no more but it was fun!

Anna Kate bakes muffins
I don't know if you can see this well, but Anna Kate was baking muffins early on Lucy's birthday. Unfortunately, Mommy didn't know and preheated the oven to bake Lucy's cake. Anna Kate's muffins (Lego blocks in the Lego top) melted. Sorry we didn't get a picture of the muffins still in the oven! All is clean and clear now.
