The Farm in Cooperstown

Over Labor Day weekend we went to the Farm in Cooperstown, NY. . .

There is a carousel . . . and I wish I had gotten better pictures because there is such a great variety of animals to ride! Lucy insisted on riding (Percy) the Pig, which left Dave and the other two girls around the carousel a bit, so they could ride horses.

All the girls got wet (with water, really) milking a cow . . . that was interesting.
We enjoyed a rest on the second floor porch of the tavern. All the buildings are from the immediate area and were moved to the Farm to recreate the village.
The girls played the "games of old" at the carnival - the wooden bowling set was a big hit.
We looked at animals, and, for some reason, Lucy and Samantha really liked the pigs!
We enjoyed a beautiful church (there was not a single religious symbol).
That's the same second floor porch we were sitting on at the tavern behind Anna Kate on the left hand side of the picture.
The girls were able to brush some sheep. Daddy got in on the action, too.

It was so beautiful! There was a wedding reception in the banquet room just beginning when we left . . .

Co-Op Week One

We started our Homeschooling Co-Op today. Anna Kate would not allow me to take a picture of her. She looked great and was very excited. Of course, on the way there, she began getting nervous. And by the time she was in her first class of the day (music), she was not sure about being there. We managed, and I knew if I left, she would have a great day! She did. Music, Gym, Art, Lunch and Critical Thinking. I'm with the two littler girls in the preschool play room, and that's going to be the best place for me to be anyways. Everyone was tired when we left.

tonight

Tonight, after an early dinner because Dave is working again, we had about 20 minutes before he had to leave again. He took the girls outside to play and give me a few minutes break. I couldn't resist after a few minutes, and I went outside to join him on the deck. Right before we came in, Dave noticed Lucy with a fairly large handful of grass.
Dave: "Lucy, what's that grass in your hand?"
Lucy: "I needed it to feed my pretend cow."

I still laugh just writing it down. It gave me a good few minutes of laughing. She might be a farmer's wife one day or a vet or just really creative.
