About a week ago, Dave was having "thumb wars" with the girls before bed. A few nights later, Lucy asked, "Daddy, can we have a thumb war without the war?" Hmmm . . .

Pumpkin Faces
A couple of weeks ago we made pumpkin animals. The girls had a great time choosing the parts for their animals and putting them together. Samantha loved her "piggy." You can't imagine the disagreement we had with her about where the piggy pumpkin should be - in bed with her that night or on the desk in her room. Once the piggy made it to the front porch, we were okay, unless, of course, she looked out the front door, saw "piggy" and decided she had to have her. The big girls were equally as enthusiastic about their creations but much more agreeable about an appropriate place for them.
On another note, I did a horrible job on Halloween, and I didn't take any pictures. This year marked a huge milestone for our family because the girls decided they would be "brave" and go trick-or-treating. In previous years, the prospect of walking up the front steps of a home and ring the doorbell without Mommy or Daddy along was daunting. This year, they did it! Success, even if it was raining outside! And they were immediately thrilled - to think they have been missing out on all those treats! They quickly announced that they would be doing it again next year.
