At the end of our time there, we indulged in famous apple cider donuts, which we all loved, except I am always disappointed that they don't actually taste like apple cider.
We had to bundle up for a real fall day! And we were able to walk around the farm and see chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep, a pot-bellied pig, sheep, bunnies, geese . . .

The girls climbed on an old tractor parked in the sand box. (Dave thinks the sand box is actually a toy graveyard, but the girls had a great time!)
This was my favorite part of the day. Have you ever seen anything like it? She is a Scottish Highlander Cow. According to the sign, they are actually really smart and mild-mannered (though the sign posted said to stay back from the fence because of the horns . . . mild-mannered?). Her name is Rosie.

Apple Picking - kind of
We went "apple picking." But the farm was only picking red delicious and who wants to pick a half bushel of red delicious apples? Not me. So, we didn't actually pick any apples. Instead we poked around the farm. Here are the girls sitting on peachy pumpkins, seriously, that's what they are called.

Ice Cream and Cupcakes
How do you eat a cupcake? Anna Kate eats hers quickly.
Lucy starts by licking the frosting first, then eating the cupcake. Sometimes she even gives Anna Kate an extra bite from her cupcake because Lucy eats so much more slowly.
Dave decided one night that the girls could share a bowl of ice cream. What an entertaining few minutes . . . everyone seems fine with it
but then Anna Kate swipes the bowl.
Dave intervened and decided to hold the bowl, so they really could share. It did all work out in the end.

Enjoying the weather
Mommy is trying to maintain the perspective that this weather will not last, even though some days seem unbearably warm. That's a bit of an exaggeration considering we are used to the southwest United States! But we're trying to make the most of the opportunity to be outside without bundling and snow.

A raspberry patch in the backyard!
We have been enjoying some great time with our friend, Myra. We go to church with Myra and her husband Peter. The girls love going to her house - kitties, a swing set, a raspberry patch . . . so many things - and Mommy loves the change of pace and adult company! When the weather is nice, like this week, she sets up a Fisher Price sink for some outdoor water play. The girls swing, slide, run, and eat lots of fresh raspberries (Lucy says, "yummy") . . . Here they are picking and eating from the patch.

Lucy is coming around
Even though Lucy joins us at the dinner table, she has not been eating what we eat usually. So, this week marks a huge change in dinner . . . Lucy ate what we ate every night this week. I'm not sure what has brought about this change, but we are going with it, and not a moment to soon with Baby #3 on her way. Mommy is so glad to make just one dinner each night. Here are the girls enjoying pot roast.
The big hit with Lucy was the meat and biscuits, even though she tried the carrots and potatoes.
